THE MEANING OF HAZAQ LODGE #360
HAZAQ: is Hebrew; its meaning is to be strong, courageous, mighty, or strengthened by GOD. It is the first part of the name Ezekiel. The second part of the name is “El” which is also short for Elohim
360: The 360 in the name of the lodge represents 360 degrees, which is defined as completeness, all around, a full circle’s circumference. This alludes to how we use our working tool the compass; to circumscribe and keep ourselves in due bounds. Which also alludes to the point within a circle or “101”.
The Lion: is a symbol that crosses many cultures and many religions. It is a symbol of strength. It also symbolizes the following:
-Leadership
-Royalty
-Courage
-Honor
-Wisdom
-Authority
-Ferocity
The Lion: also eludes to the story and the raising of our Grand Master Hiram Abiff. All other grips had failed when trying to raise Hiram Abiff, but it was the Strong Grip or Real Grip of a Master Mason or Lion’s Paw that was able to raise Hiram Abiff and all Master Masons from a dead level to a living perpendicular on the “Five points of Fellowship” which alludes to the “Five” Claws on each of the Lions’ Paws.
There are ten “claws” on the Lions’ Paws. This alludes to the seven initial charted members of the lodge as well as the first 3 candidates that were initiated with many other great brothers that soon followed.
The motto of Hazaq is “To Be Strong or Strength within a Circle Through Strength and Loyalty”.
